When you book a session with me, you're not just getting beautiful images straight out of the camera—you're getting photos that are lovingly refined, thoughtfully enhanced, and brought to life through careful editing.
Editing is where the final layer of magic happens. It’s subtle, intentional, and designed to reflect the mood, emotion, and you behind every shot. Let’s take a peek behind the scenes at what really goes into editing—and why it makes such a big difference.
You might be surprised to learn that straight-out-of-camera (or “SOOC”) images can look a bit flat. That’s because professional cameras are designed to capture as much information as possible, not to produce a finished look right away.
Your images begin as a raw canvas—with perfect lighting, posing, and composition—and from there, I work my editing magic to bring out all the beauty that was already there.
Every photographer has their own style, and editing is a huge part of that. For me, editing is never about altering who you are—it's about highlighting natural beauty, emotion, and the story behind the moment.
Here’s what I typically adjust:
Color tones: Enhancing warmth, balancing skin tones, and creating a soft, timeless palette
Exposure & contrast: Making sure every image is bright, clear, and evenly lit
Skin retouching: Smoothing without over-editing—because natural skin still looks like skin!
Distractions: Removing stray hairs, background clutter, or anything that pulls focus from the moment
Cropping & composition: Perfecting the frame to draw your eye where it matters
It’s a blend of art and precision—and always done with care and intention.
While I can’t share all the photos here, I love showing my clients the subtle but powerful differences editing makes. A dull sky becomes golden. A tired toddler’s little red mark disappears. A cluttered background quietly fades away.
These are the little things that elevate your photos from “great” to “absolutely stunning.”
When you choose a photographer, you're not just investing in the moment—we're creating artwork together. Editing helps your images feel like you, and makes sure your gallery is cohesive, polished, and timeless.
You deserve more than just pretty pictures. You deserve images that feel finished, intentional, and full of emotion.
Want to see a before-and-after from your session? I love showing clients the transformation! Just ask. I’m always happy to give you a peek behind the scenes and show how much love goes into every final image.
We live in a digital world, but there’s something incredibly special about holding your memories in your hands. Whether it’s a framed family portrait, a senior album, or a gallery wall of your kids growing up—printed photos make your memories real and lasting.
But not all prints are created equal. If you've ever had a photo fade, curl, or look totally different than it did on your screen, you’re not alone. Let’s talk about how to print your photos so they actually last—and look beautiful for years to come.
This one’s simple: always print from high-resolution files. That quick screenshot or compressed social media version isn’t going to cut it.
When you book a session with me, you receive high-resolution, edited images—ready for professional printing. These are sharp, detailed, and color-true, exactly how they’re meant to be seen.
Your local drugstore might be convenient, but the quality doesn’t even come close to what a professional print lab can offer. Here’s why pro labs are worth it:
Accurate color + exposure: What you see on screen is what you get in print.
Archival-quality materials: Prints won’t fade, warp, or yellow over time.
True-to-life skin tones: No weird tints or overly saturated colors.
Not all paper is the same! Here are a few options to consider:
Lustre Paper: A beautiful blend of matte and glossy; fingerprint-resistant and rich in color.
Deep Matte: Velvety texture and soft tones—perfect for a fine-art look.
Canvas or Wood Prints: Great for wall displays, but make sure they’re sealed properly to prevent wear.
Albums: Lay-flat, thick pages with protective coatings ensure your album becomes an heirloom.
Let me know your vision and I’ll help you choose the best fit!
Even the best prints need proper care. To make them last:
Frame with UV-protective glass to prevent fading from sunlight.
Keep prints out of humid spaces (like bathrooms) to avoid warping.
Use acid-free mats and backings when framing to prevent discoloration.
And of course—don’t store them in a shoebox. Your memories deserve better than that!
Even though we’re talking about printing, always make sure your photos are backed up in multiple places—think cloud storage, a hard drive, and maybe even a USB. That way, you can reprint them anytime and never worry about losing your images.
Your photos weren’t meant to live in a folder on your phone. Let’s turn your images into something real—something you can touch, hang, flip through, and pass down. If you’re not sure where to start, I’m happy to help guide you toward the right print options for your session.

One of the most common questions I’m asked is: “What’s the best time of day for our session?” The light can completely change the mood and style of your photos, so the timing does matter—but don’t worry, I’ve got you covered! Whether you're planning a family session, senior portraits, or a sweet couples shoot, here's a breakdown of golden hour versus midday sessions, and how to decide which is best for you.
Golden hour is the time shortly after sunrise or just before sunset—when the sun is low in the sky and everything is bathed in warm, glowing light. It’s often described as the most flattering natural light, and it adds such a soft, romantic, and magical feel to your photos.
Soft, even lighting with fewer shadows
Warm tones that look gorgeous on all skin types
A dreamy, golden glow that makes everything feel magical
Outdoor family or maternity sessions
Senior portraits with a warm, golden vibe
Couples sessions full of connection and light
Even just 15–20 minutes during golden hour can make a huge difference. If you're after that sun-kissed, natural look—this is your window!
Midday (between 11am–2pm) brings the brightest, most direct sunlight of the day. While the light can be a bit harsh, with the right planning (and a few tricks up my sleeve!), it can still result in beautiful, bold images—especially in the right setting.
Bright, clear photos with vibrant colors
Great for busy families or little ones who do better earlier in the day
Ideal if your schedule doesn’t allow for evening or early morning
Find open shade or use natural backdrops to soften the light
Choose a location with tall trees, buildings, or covered areas
Don’t worry—I’ll guide you every step of the way!
It all depends on your preferences and schedule! Here’s a quick guide:
If you love warm, glowy photos: Go for golden hour—especially if you're drawn to soft, natural light and a peaceful vibe.
If you have little ones or limited availability: Midday might be best. We’ll work around the light to make sure you still get stunning images.
Some of my favorite sessions happen when we split things up a bit—maybe starting earlier in the afternoon and finishing with a few golden hour shots. It gives variety and helps capture different moods throughout the session.
No matter when your session takes place, I’ll help you find the perfect light and setting to make your photos feel like you. Still unsure what time is best? Let’s talk about your vision, your people, and what works best for your schedule. I’m here to help every step of the way!

Welcoming a new baby is one of life’s most joyful and fleeting moments. Between doctor appointments, nursery prep, and baby showers, time can fly—and before you know it, your little one is in your arms. That’s why timing your maternity and newborn photo sessions is so important. These photos preserve some of the most emotional and transformative times in your life—and I want you to feel completely ready.
Here’s a simple guide to help you know when to schedule each session so you can relax and enjoy every step of the journey.
Your maternity photos should showcase your growing bump, your connection with your partner, and that beautiful anticipation of what’s to come. The ideal time to schedule your session is between 28 and 34 weeks. At this stage:
Your belly is beautifully round and photograph-ready
You're (usually) still comfortable enough to move, pose, and enjoy the session
There’s less risk of early delivery throwing off the schedule
If you're having twins or experiencing complications, I recommend aiming closer to 26–30 weeks.
The best time to photograph your newborn is within the first two weeks of life—ideally between days 5 and 14. During this window:
Babies are extra sleepy and snuggly, making those curled-up poses possible
Their skin is typically clearer
Feeding and sleep patterns are a bit more predictable (we hope!)
That said, I always make space for flexibility. If your baby is a little older, don’t worry—we can still create beautiful images that highlight their growing personality.
Honestly—the earlier, the better. Many of my clients book their maternity and newborn sessions during the second trimester, especially if they want both. This ensures:
You get priority booking on my calendar
You have time to plan outfits and locations
You can relax knowing your memories are covered
I offer bump-to-baby bundles for families in Kitsap County and Pierce County, including Port Orchard, Bremerton, Silverdale, Gig Harbor, Poulsbo, and Tacoma, so you can capture the full journey without the stress of last-minute planning.
Some families love a studio look, while others feel more at home… well, at home! We can chat about what kind of environment you prefer for both sessions. My Port Orchard studio offers soft, natural light and a peaceful setup for newborns, while outdoor maternity sessions around Silverdale, Poulsbo, or Gig Harbor can give you dreamy golden-hour magic.
Whether you’re newly expecting or just about to pop, I’m here to make your maternity and newborn photo experience easy, meaningful, and joy-filled. From glowing bellies to tiny toes, we’ll freeze these beautiful moments before they pass.
Let’s chat and secure your spot—I can’t wait to capture this amazing chapter for you.
You’ve said yes, popped the champagne, and maybe even booked your wedding venue—congrats! Now comes one of the most fun parts of your journey to “I do”: the engagement session. You might be wondering, do we really need engagement photos? The short answer? Yes—and here’s why they matter so much.
As a photographer serving couples across Kitsap and Pierce County—from Port Orchard and Bremerton to Silverdale, Gig Harbor, and Tacoma—I believe engagement sessions are more than just pretty pictures. They’re an important part of your love story and a powerful way to prepare for your big day.
Most couples aren’t used to being professionally photographed—and that’s totally normal. An engagement session gives you a chance to experience how I work, get used to gentle posing guidance, and feel more relaxed before your wedding day. That way, when your big moment arrives, you’ll already feel like a pro in front of the lens.
You’re only engaged for a short time—why not capture it? These photos aren’t just for save-the-dates (though they’re perfect for that too). They document the joy, connection, and excitement you’re feeling during one of the most memorable seasons of your life.
This is our chance to bond! You’ll get to know my approach, and I’ll learn more about your personalities, preferences, and how you interact with each other—helping me tell your story in the most genuine way possible on your wedding day.
Now that you know why they matter, here are a few tips to make your session shine:
Love the beach? Prefer a woodsy trail? Want something urban or romantic? Whether it’s Gig Harbor’s waterfront, downtown Tacoma, or a scenic trail near Poulsbo or Silverdale, let’s pick a spot that reflects you. I’m happy to suggest locations all over Kitsap and Pierce County that give us dreamy light and great variety.
You don’t need to match, but coordinating your outfits can elevate the look of your gallery. Choose clothes that feel authentic and comfortable—something you’d actually wear on a special date. Soft neutrals, light textures, and a pop of color can photograph beautifully. And yes, you can absolutely bring a second outfit!
Bring anything that adds personal flair—like your pup, a picnic blanket, or your favorite coffee mugs. Want to pop champagne or dance under twinkle lights? Let’s do it. The goal is to capture your connection and have fun while doing it.
You don’t need to know how to pose or what to do with your hands—I’ve got you! I’ll gently guide you into natural movements, prompts, and moments that bring out your true dynamic as a couple. We’ll laugh, play, and create some magic together.
Whether you're planning your wedding in Port Orchard, Bremerton, Silverdale, Poulsbo, Gig Harbor, or Tacoma, your engagement session is the perfect opportunity to slow down, connect, and start telling your story.
Ready to plan your session? I’d love to hear all about your vision—and help bring it to life with timeless, joy-filled images you’ll treasure forever.
