Capture the glow before the giggles.
Welcoming a new baby is one of life’s most joyful and fleeting moments. Between doctor appointments, nursery prep, and baby showers, time can fly—and before you know it, your little one is in your arms. That’s why timing your maternity and newborn photo sessions is so important. These photos preserve some of the most emotional and transformative times in your life—and I want you to feel completely ready.
Here’s a simple guide to help you know when to schedule each session so you can relax and enjoy every step of the journey.
Your maternity photos should showcase your growing bump, your connection with your partner, and that beautiful anticipation of what’s to come. The ideal time to schedule your session is between 28 and 34 weeks. At this stage:
Your belly is beautifully round and photograph-ready
You're (usually) still comfortable enough to move, pose, and enjoy the session
There’s less risk of early delivery throwing off the schedule
If you're having twins or experiencing complications, I recommend aiming closer to 26–30 weeks.
The best time to photograph your newborn is within the first two weeks of life—ideally between days 5 and 14. During this window:
Babies are extra sleepy and snuggly, making those curled-up poses possible
Their skin is typically clearer
Feeding and sleep patterns are a bit more predictable (we hope!)
That said, I always make space for flexibility. If your baby is a little older, don’t worry—we can still create beautiful images that highlight their growing personality.
Honestly—the earlier, the better. Many of my clients book their maternity and newborn sessions during the second trimester, especially if they want both. This ensures:
You get priority booking on my calendar
You have time to plan outfits and locations
You can relax knowing your memories are covered
I offer bump-to-baby bundles for families in Kitsap County and Pierce County, including Port Orchard, Bremerton, Silverdale, Gig Harbor, Poulsbo, and Tacoma, so you can capture the full journey without the stress of last-minute planning.
Some families love a studio look, while others feel more at home… well, at home! We can chat about what kind of environment you prefer for both sessions. My Port Orchard studio offers soft, natural light and a peaceful setup for newborns, while outdoor maternity sessions around Silverdale, Poulsbo, or Gig Harbor can give you dreamy golden-hour magic.
Whether you’re newly expecting or just about to pop, I’m here to make your maternity and newborn photo experience easy, meaningful, and joy-filled. From glowing bellies to tiny toes, we’ll freeze these beautiful moments before they pass.
Let’s chat and secure your spot—I can’t wait to capture this amazing chapter for you.
You’ve said yes, popped the champagne, and maybe even booked your wedding venue—congrats! Now comes one of the most fun parts of your journey to “I do”: the engagement session. You might be wondering, do we really need engagement photos? The short answer? Yes—and here’s why they matter so much.
As a photographer serving couples across Kitsap and Pierce County—from Port Orchard and Bremerton to Silverdale, Gig Harbor, and Tacoma—I believe engagement sessions are more than just pretty pictures. They’re an important part of your love story and a powerful way to prepare for your big day.
Most couples aren’t used to being professionally photographed—and that’s totally normal. An engagement session gives you a chance to experience how I work, get used to gentle posing guidance, and feel more relaxed before your wedding day. That way, when your big moment arrives, you’ll already feel like a pro in front of the lens.
You’re only engaged for a short time—why not capture it? These photos aren’t just for save-the-dates (though they’re perfect for that too). They document the joy, connection, and excitement you’re feeling during one of the most memorable seasons of your life.
This is our chance to bond! You’ll get to know my approach, and I’ll learn more about your personalities, preferences, and how you interact with each other—helping me tell your story in the most genuine way possible on your wedding day.
Now that you know why they matter, here are a few tips to make your session shine:
Love the beach? Prefer a woodsy trail? Want something urban or romantic? Whether it’s Gig Harbor’s waterfront, downtown Tacoma, or a scenic trail near Poulsbo or Silverdale, let’s pick a spot that reflects you. I’m happy to suggest locations all over Kitsap and Pierce County that give us dreamy light and great variety.
You don’t need to match, but coordinating your outfits can elevate the look of your gallery. Choose clothes that feel authentic and comfortable—something you’d actually wear on a special date. Soft neutrals, light textures, and a pop of color can photograph beautifully. And yes, you can absolutely bring a second outfit!
Bring anything that adds personal flair—like your pup, a picnic blanket, or your favorite coffee mugs. Want to pop champagne or dance under twinkle lights? Let’s do it. The goal is to capture your connection and have fun while doing it.
You don’t need to know how to pose or what to do with your hands—I’ve got you! I’ll gently guide you into natural movements, prompts, and moments that bring out your true dynamic as a couple. We’ll laugh, play, and create some magic together.
Whether you're planning your wedding in Port Orchard, Bremerton, Silverdale, Poulsbo, Gig Harbor, or Tacoma, your engagement session is the perfect opportunity to slow down, connect, and start telling your story.
Ready to plan your session? I’d love to hear all about your vision—and help bring it to life with timeless, joy-filled images you’ll treasure forever.

Let’s create something beautiful together.
Senior year is a season full of reflection, accomplishment, and excitement for what’s next. Your senior photo session is a chance to capture that incredible energy and tell your unique story.
At Impressions by Ellie Photography, I create personalized senior photography experiences for high school seniors across Kitsap County and Pierce County—from Port Orchard and Bremerton to Silverdale, Poulsbo, Gig Harbor, and Tacoma.
Senior portraits are more than just formal headshots—they're a celebration of who you are at this moment in time. Whether you're an artist, athlete, academic, or all of the above, your session should reflect your personality, interests, and style.
We’ll collaborate to design a session that feels fun, relaxed, and meaningful. You don’t have to be a model or know how to pose—I’ll guide you every step of the way so you feel confident and at ease.
One of the first things we’ll talk about is where you want to shoot. Whether you love urban textures, wide-open nature, or somewhere in between, Kitsap and Pierce counties are full of gorgeous photo backdrops:
Downtown Bremerton – Urban vibes with character
Silverdale Waterfront Park – Water views and beautiful green space
Gig Harbor – Coastal charm and charming architecture
Port Orchard boardwalk – Serene and scenic
Point Defiance Park in Tacoma – Forest trails and garden beauty
Poulsbo – Quaint streets and cozy, small-town flair
I’ll help you choose a spot that aligns with your vision—and that gives us great light and variety.
When it comes to senior photo outfits, variety is key. Bring 2–3 looks that show different sides of your personality:
Something casual – Jeans and your favorite top or hoodie
Something dressy – A dress, jumpsuit, or button-up shirt
Something personal – Uniforms, instruments, or items that reflect your hobbies or culture
Stick to solid colors, soft neutrals, or bold hues that complement your skin tone. Avoid busy patterns that might distract from your face. Layers, textures, and accessories can all help bring dimension to your look.
Senior photos are keepsakes—for you, your family, and even future generations. They’re more than just something to hang on the wall—they’re a snapshot of who you are right now.
Whether you're graduating from high school in Tacoma, Gig Harbor, Port Orchard, Silverdale, or anywhere in Kitsap or Pierce County, I’d be honored to help you document this once-in-a-lifetime moment.

Welcoming a newborn is one of life’s most beautiful (and busiest!) moments. As you prepare to capture those early days in timeless photos, one of the biggest decisions to make is: Should I choose a studio session or an in-home session? At Impressions by Ellie Photography, I offer both options to families across Kitsap County and Pierce County—including Port Orchard, Bremerton, Silverdale, Poulsbo, Gig Harbor, and Tacoma. Here’s a helpful breakdown to guide you through the decision.
Studio sessions take place in my cozy; well-lit space designed specifically for newborns and families. Everything from lighting to props is prepped in advance, making it easy to arrive and relax.
Controlled Environment – Ideal lighting, temperature, and setup for sleepy, snuggly newborn portraits.
Access to Props – Swaddles, baskets, blankets, headbands—you don’t need to bring a thing.
Minimal Cleanup – No need to tidy up your home or worry about lighting conditions.
Clean & Comfortable – My studio is stocked with everything baby may need, and you can sit back and enjoy the experience.
Travel Required – You’ll need to pack up your baby and head to the studio, which can be challenging in the early postpartum days.
Less Personal Background – The studio offers a polished look, but it won’t feature the personal touches of your home.
In-home sessions take place in the comfort of your own space. I come to you, capturing relaxed, lifestyle-focused moments in your nursery, bedroom, or living room.
Comfort & Convenience – No packing, no travel—perfect for brand new parents and recovering moms.
Personal Touch – Your baby’s nursery, family heirlooms, or even your pets can be included.
More Natural & Candid – Lifestyle photos often feel organic and authentic, capturing everyday love.
Home Prep – You may want to tidy up spaces where we’ll shoot, especially if clutter bothers you.
Lighting Can Vary – We’ll work with available natural light, which may not always be ideal in every home.
Fewer Props – The focus is less on styled setups and more on your family’s natural interactions.
Both styles offer something beautiful and meaningful—it truly comes down to your vision and what makes you feel most at ease. If you want a more polished look with styled props and ease of setup, a studio session might be right for you. If you value comfort, personal surroundings, and a relaxed, storytelling vibe, an in-home session could be the perfect fit.
Some families even opt for both: a studio session for those posed, sleepy baby shots and an in-home session to capture the candid, snuggly chaos of real life.
Whether you’re in Port Orchard, Bremerton, Silverdale, Poulsbo, Gig Harbor, Tacoma, or anywhere in Kitsap or Pierce County, I’m happy to help you decide which option will work best for your family. My goal is always the same: to create meaningful, heart-filled images of your newborn that you’ll treasure forever.
Ready to schedule your session? Let’s connect and make magic—wherever that may be!
