Your Wedding, Your Story: Capturing the Day You'll Never Forget

Your wedding day is a celebration of love, connection, and a new beginning. At Impressions by Ellie, I believe your photos should feel just as meaningful as your vows—genuine, emotional, and uniquely you. Whether you’re planning an intimate ceremony or a big celebration in Kitsap or Pierce County, I’m here to document the moments that matter most.

A Personal Approach to Wedding Photography

No two love stories are the same, and your wedding photography shouldn’t be either. I focus on connection over perfection, capturing the in-between glances, happy tears, and wild dance floor laughs that truly tell the story of your day.

From your detail shots in Port Orchard, to golden hour portraits in Gig Harbor, to your joyful first kiss in Tacoma—I’ll be there to preserve every chapter.

What to Expect on Your Day

I work closely with couples to make sure everything flows smoothly. Before your wedding, we’ll go over your timeline, must-have moments, and how you want to feel when you look back at these photos.

Here’s what’s included in every experience:

  • A mix of candid and guided portraits

  • Gentle posing support for natural, flattering images

  • A calming presence to help you stay present and joyful

  • Beautiful editing that feels timeless, not trendy

Favorite Local Venues

Having photographed weddings all around Bremerton, Silverdale, Poulsbo, Gig Harbor, and beyond, here are a few favorite spots I love:

  • The Club at McCormick Woods (Port Orchard)

  • Point Defiance Rose Garden (Tacoma)

  • Edgewater House (Gig Harbor)

  • Kiana Lodge (Poulsbo)

  • Silver City Ballroom (Silverdale)

Each has its own charm—and I’m always happy to scout locations or offer tips if you’re still deciding.

Let’s Capture the Magic

Your wedding day will fly by—but your photos will last forever. Whether you're marrying in the mountains, by the water, or under the trees, I’m here to capture every smile, tear, and meaningful glance.

If you’re planning your big day in Kitsap County or Pierce County—including Port Orchard, Bremerton, Silverdale, Poulsbo, Gig Harbor, or Tacoma—I’d be honored to document your love story.

Let’s create something beautiful together.

Celebrate Your Senior Year: Tips for an Unforgettable Senior Photo Session

Senior year is a season full of reflection, accomplishment, and excitement for what’s next. Your senior photo session is a chance to capture that incredible energy and tell your unique story.

At Impressions by Ellie Photography, I create personalized senior photography experiences for high school seniors across Kitsap County and Pierce County—from Port Orchard and Bremerton to Silverdale, Poulsbo, Gig Harbor, and Tacoma.

Express Yourself Through Photos

Senior portraits are more than just formal headshots—they're a celebration of who you are at this moment in time. Whether you're an artist, athlete, academic, or all of the above, your session should reflect your personality, interests, and style.

We’ll collaborate to design a session that feels fun, relaxed, and meaningful. You don’t have to be a model or know how to pose—I’ll guide you every step of the way so you feel confident and at ease.

Choosing the Right Location

One of the first things we’ll talk about is where you want to shoot. Whether you love urban textures, wide-open nature, or somewhere in between, Kitsap and Pierce counties are full of gorgeous photo backdrops:

  • Downtown Bremerton – Urban vibes with character

  • Silverdale Waterfront Park – Water views and beautiful green space

  • Gig Harbor – Coastal charm and charming architecture

  • Port Orchard boardwalk – Serene and scenic

  • Point Defiance Park in Tacoma – Forest trails and garden beauty

  • Poulsbo – Quaint streets and cozy, small-town flair

I’ll help you choose a spot that aligns with your vision—and that gives us great light and variety.

What to Wear: Make It Personal

When it comes to senior photo outfits, variety is key. Bring 2–3 looks that show different sides of your personality:

  • Something casual – Jeans and your favorite top or hoodie

  • Something dressy – A dress, jumpsuit, or button-up shirt

  • Something personal – Uniforms, instruments, or items that reflect your hobbies or culture

Stick to solid colors, soft neutrals, or bold hues that complement your skin tone. Avoid busy patterns that might distract from your face. Layers, textures, and accessories can all help bring dimension to your look.

Let’s Make It Memorable

Senior photos are keepsakes—for you, your family, and even future generations. They’re more than just something to hang on the wall—they’re a snapshot of who you are right now.

Whether you're graduating from high school in Tacoma, Gig Harbor, Port Orchard, Silverdale, or anywhere in Kitsap or Pierce County, I’d be honored to help you document this once-in-a-lifetime moment.

Ready to plan your senior session? Let’s make something amazing together!

Studio vs. In-Home Newborn Sessions: Which is Right for You?

Studio vs. In-Home Newborn Sessions: Which is Right for You?

Welcoming a newborn is one of life’s most beautiful (and busiest!) moments. As you prepare to capture those early days in timeless photos, one of the biggest decisions to make is: Should I choose a studio session or an in-home session? At Impressions by Ellie Photography, I offer both options to families across Kitsap County and Pierce County—including Port Orchard, Bremerton, Silverdale, Poulsbo, Gig Harbor, and Tacoma. Here’s a helpful breakdown to guide you through the decision.

Studio Newborn Sessions

Studio sessions take place in my cozy; well-lit space designed specifically for newborns and families. Everything from lighting to props is prepped in advance, making it easy to arrive and relax.

Pros:

  • Controlled Environment – Ideal lighting, temperature, and setup for sleepy, snuggly newborn portraits.

  • Access to Props – Swaddles, baskets, blankets, headbands—you don’t need to bring a thing.

  • Minimal Cleanup – No need to tidy up your home or worry about lighting conditions.

  • Clean & Comfortable – My studio is stocked with everything baby may need, and you can sit back and enjoy the experience.

Cons:

  • Travel Required – You’ll need to pack up your baby and head to the studio, which can be challenging in the early postpartum days.

  • Less Personal Background – The studio offers a polished look, but it won’t feature the personal touches of your home.

In-Home Newborn Sessions

In-home sessions take place in the comfort of your own space. I come to you, capturing relaxed, lifestyle-focused moments in your nursery, bedroom, or living room.

Pros:

  • Comfort & Convenience – No packing, no travel—perfect for brand new parents and recovering moms.

  • Personal Touch – Your baby’s nursery, family heirlooms, or even your pets can be included.

  • More Natural & Candid – Lifestyle photos often feel organic and authentic, capturing everyday love.

Cons:

  • Home Prep – You may want to tidy up spaces where we’ll shoot, especially if clutter bothers you.

  • Lighting Can Vary – We’ll work with available natural light, which may not always be ideal in every home.

  • Fewer Props – The focus is less on styled setups and more on your family’s natural interactions.

So, Which Should You Choose?

Both styles offer something beautiful and meaningful—it truly comes down to your vision and what makes you feel most at ease. If you want a more polished look with styled props and ease of setup, a studio session might be right for you. If you value comfort, personal surroundings, and a relaxed, storytelling vibe, an in-home session could be the perfect fit.

Some families even opt for both: a studio session for those posed, sleepy baby shots and an in-home session to capture the candid, snuggly chaos of real life.

Still Not Sure? Let’s Chat!

Whether you’re in Port Orchard, Bremerton, Silverdale, Poulsbo, Gig Harbor, Tacoma, or anywhere in Kitsap or Pierce County, I’m happy to help you decide which option will work best for your family. My goal is always the same: to create meaningful, heart-filled images of your newborn that you’ll treasure forever.

Ready to schedule your session? Let’s connect and make magic—wherever that may be!

Spring Blossoms & Baby Giggles: Perfect Timing for Outdoor Photos

Spring Blossoms & Baby Giggles: Perfect Timing for Outdoor Photos

There’s something truly magical about springtime—the air is fresh, the flowers are blooming, and the world feels like it’s waking up from a long nap. It’s the perfect season to head outdoors and capture the joy of family life, especially with little ones in tow. At Impressions by Ellie Photography, I adore spring sessions filled with blossoms, soft sunlight, and yes—those irresistible baby giggles.

Why Spring is Ideal for Family & Baby Photography

The colors of spring make an incredible backdrop for your portraits. Think soft pink cherry blossoms, golden daffodils, and fresh green grass underfoot. These natural elements create a dreamy, timeless setting that brings your photos to life.

Plus, spring weather is generally mild—just warm enough for comfort but cool enough to avoid the summer squints and sweat. It’s the perfect time for families with babies or toddlers who enjoy shorter, relaxed sessions with room to explore.

What to Wear for Spring Photos

Lighter tones and soft textures photograph beautifully in spring’s natural light. Pastels, whites, soft blues, and gentle florals all pair well with the season’s palette. Dress your little ones in comfortable, breathable fabrics and consider layering in case the breeze picks up.

Don’t be afraid to mix in accessories like flower crowns for little girls, suspenders for boys, or a cozy blanket to snuggle up with. These small touches add character and can help keep kids happy and warm.

Best Spring Locations in Kitsap & Pierce County

Whether you're in Port Orchard, Bremerton, Silverdale, Poulsbo, Gig Harbor, or Tacoma, there’s no shortage of gorgeous spots for a spring session. Some of my favorites include parks with blooming trees, waterfront trails, and quiet gardens that provide a safe, open space for little ones to play.

Living and working in Kitsap County and Pierce County, I know the best times and places to catch the season’s short-lived blooms. Cherry blossoms in March and April, tulips in bloom, and even wildflowers in hidden local spots all make stunning backdrops.

Making the Most of Your Spring Session

Outdoor photography with babies and toddlers can be playful and spontaneous—which is exactly the kind of energy I love to capture. To make your session a success:

  • Pick a time when your child is happiest (usually after a nap and snack!)

  • Pack extras – diapers, wipes, snacks, and a favorite toy or two

  • Let them explore – the best moments are often the unposed ones

I’ll guide you through relaxed poses, candid play, and sweet snuggles that highlight your family’s real connection.

Let’s Chase Blossoms & Giggles Together

Spring doesn’t last forever, but the memories we create can. Whether it’s your baby’s first time seeing cherry blossoms, your toddler running through tulips, or your whole family cuddled under a blooming tree—these are the moments worth preserving.

If you're ready to schedule your spring family or baby session in Kitsap or Pierce County, let’s find the perfect place, time, and blossom-filled backdrop. I can’t wait to laugh, explore, and capture the joy of your family this spring!

Can I Include Pets in My Family Photos? Yes, Please!

Can I Include Pets in My Family Photos? Yes, Please!

If your pet is part of your family—and let’s be honest, they absolutely are—then yes, you can (and should!) include them in your family photos! From loyal pups to cuddly cats, animals bring such warmth, personality, and fun to photo sessions. At Impressions by Ellie, I absolutely welcome your furry companions. In fact, I love capturing the sweet connection between your pet and your family.

Why Include Pets in Your Family Portraits?

Pets are more than just animals—they're often the first 'baby' before the babies arrive. They comfort us, play with our kids, and complete our family in the most unconditional way. Including them in your photos captures a more complete story of your life right now.

Whether you're doing a maternity session, a family shoot, or newborn portraits, having your pet there can add something truly special. Those goofy grins, curious sniffs, and tail wags tell a story all their own.

Tips for a Pet-Friendly Photo Session

Bringing a pet along for your session does take a little planning, but it’s so worth it. Here are a few tips to make the experience fun and smooth:

  1. Bring a Handler – If possible, bring someone who can help manage your pet when they’re not in the shot.

  2. Bring Treats & Toys – These help keep your pet engaged and reward them for being awesome.

  3. Practice Commands – A quick refresher on sit, stay, and come can make a big difference.

  4. Walk Them Before – A bit of exercise before your session can help release some energy.

  5. Keep Expectations Light – Just like young kids, pets don’t always follow direction—and that’s okay! Sometimes the most adorable moments are unplanned.

Where Can We Do Pet-Inclusive Sessions?

If you're in Port Orchard, Bremerton, Silverdale, Poulsbo, Gig Harbor, Tacoma, or anywhere in Kitsap or Pierce County, there are plenty of outdoor locations that are perfect for pet-friendly photo sessions. Parks, trails, and even your own backyard can serve as beautiful backdrops.

Studio sessions can also accommodate smaller or calmer pets! I’m happy to discuss what’s best for your pet and family when we plan your session. Whether you're in Kitsap County or Pierce County, I’ll help you choose the right setting for everyone—including your four-legged family member.

Pet Photo Inspiration

Imagine your toddler reaching out to hug your dog, your newborn snuggled beside your purring cat, or a candid moment of your pup licking your cheek mid-laugh. These are the moments that tug at your heartstrings and make your family story feel complete.

Whether your pet is a big fluffy golden retriever, a shy rescue pup, or even a sleek little bunny, they deserve to be remembered right alongside your loved ones.

So yes—bring the pets! I can’t wait to meet every member of your family and capture the love you all share, paws and all.
