Capture the glow before the giggles.
Welcoming a new baby is one of life’s most joyful and fleeting moments. Between doctor appointments, nursery prep, and baby showers, time can fly—and before you know it, your little one is in your arms. That’s why timing your maternity and newborn photo sessions is so important. These photos preserve some of the most emotional and transformative times in your life—and I want you to feel completely ready.
Here’s a simple guide to help you know when to schedule each session so you can relax and enjoy every step of the journey.
Your maternity photos should showcase your growing bump, your connection with your partner, and that beautiful anticipation of what’s to come. The ideal time to schedule your session is between 28 and 34 weeks. At this stage:
Your belly is beautifully round and photograph-ready
You're (usually) still comfortable enough to move, pose, and enjoy the session
There’s less risk of early delivery throwing off the schedule
If you're having twins or experiencing complications, I recommend aiming closer to 26–30 weeks.
The best time to photograph your newborn is within the first two weeks of life—ideally between days 5 and 14. During this window:
Babies are extra sleepy and snuggly, making those curled-up poses possible
Their skin is typically clearer
Feeding and sleep patterns are a bit more predictable (we hope!)
That said, I always make space for flexibility. If your baby is a little older, don’t worry—we can still create beautiful images that highlight their growing personality.
Honestly—the earlier, the better. Many of my clients book their maternity and newborn sessions during the second trimester, especially if they want both. This ensures:
You get priority booking on my calendar
You have time to plan outfits and locations
You can relax knowing your memories are covered
I offer bump-to-baby bundles for families in Kitsap County and Pierce County, including Port Orchard, Bremerton, Silverdale, Gig Harbor, Poulsbo, and Tacoma, so you can capture the full journey without the stress of last-minute planning.
Some families love a studio look, while others feel more at home… well, at home! We can chat about what kind of environment you prefer for both sessions. My Port Orchard studio offers soft, natural light and a peaceful setup for newborns, while outdoor maternity sessions around Silverdale, Poulsbo, or Gig Harbor can give you dreamy golden-hour magic.
Whether you’re newly expecting or just about to pop, I’m here to make your maternity and newborn photo experience easy, meaningful, and joy-filled. From glowing bellies to tiny toes, we’ll freeze these beautiful moments before they pass.
Let’s chat and secure your spot—I can’t wait to capture this amazing chapter for you.
